This is a review of the 3DS-compatible R4i Gold from www.R4iDS.cn. I'd like to thank www.r4ids.cn for providing the review sample! The R4i Gold is a budget flash cart which still intends to deliver high compatibility and a solid product for the low price, with some people suggesting it's DS game compatibility puts more expensive flash carts to shame. Being a modern slot-1 flash cart, it supports SDHC and it needs no additional tools to boot; assuming that it's bootloader/firmware has been updated properly it will boot on any unmodified DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS. With the latest version of the bootloader update to bypass DSi/XL firmware 1.4.2 (1.4.3 for China), the cart disguises itself as a Miami Nights game. Like most flash carts this cart operates in what's known as DS-mode, meaning that even if you're using it in a DSi, DSi XL, or 3DS, it'll only play DS games and homebrew.

I received the R4i3DS card in about five days (sent from Hong Kong to UK). It arrived well-packaged and didn't appear to be damaged in any way. The R4 box itself is very similar to previous R4 Gold products. The key differences however include a small red 3DS sticker (picture 1). I guess R4 have tried to save money and resources by using an established box design, although this could open the door for fake products!

This flashcart works great and loads games very fast, Micro SDHC support is also an advantage of getting this cart. It has Moonshell 2 which enables you to watch movies , listen to music and much more. Reading e-books is also good.Overall I am happy with this cart, It has a much better cheat engine and a fast loading system.

Works straight out of the box on Australian 3DS!

Just received my card in very fast shipping time surprisingly, and cannot say how ecstatic i am with this product!

I baught mine with the 8GB Micro SDHC and straight out of the box it came fully equipped with pre-installed Wood kernel and folders so no complex setup required!

A great price and free shipping aswell, so also happy on that front. Also as a nice surprise i found a small set of free DS Stylus' added into the package which was a nice thought :)

I simply dragged and drops my DS roms into the "games" folder already on the SD, using the included MSDHC to USB converter, but also included is a Micro SD (MSDHC) to SD card convertor, for those with a Free SD Card reader slot.

Again, then simply placed the Micro Sd back into the R4 Flashcart and then into my Australian 3DS, which is currently, as of this date, at the most updated firmware, and simply launched the game, which (as is normal of R4 cards) is labelled as the "Meet the Robinsons" Disney game.

It then launches and all your ROMS are accessible through the Wood menus system and all have been tested and working! Including the recent Pokemon Black and White versions.

As i said, i am more than happy with this product, and felt the need to leave this positive review to give greater insight to potential buyers of at least my own personal happyness.
